About
Paolo Picariello was born in Genoa in 1959 and has lived in Portugal since 1998. A writer and poet, he has worked with dogs for nearly forty years as a trainer, breeder and international judge. The two worlds are less distant than they seem: both require attention, patience and an ability to read silence.
His writing grows out of what is often left at the margins: bodies, animals, memory, desire, loss, injustice and lives that rarely find words. In poetry, he works by subtraction, using short lines, concrete images and white space. In noir fiction, he brings the same attention to crime, guilt and human fragility, without offering easy consolation.
His published works include 50 sfumature di poesia, Poeti Ignoranti, written with Elisabetta Oneto, and Atlântico Fado. In 2025, he was a finalist in the Premio Internazionale di Letteratura Città di Como.
Before being made available to readers, the poems and novels collected in this library took part in literary competitions; some were shortlisted or otherwise recognised.
L'Aedo Digitale is his open library: a place where poems, short stories and novels can be read, downloaded and shared free of charge. From there, each work continues its journey with whoever reads it.
